What inspired you to become an artist?

To tell stories, express and connect to the unseen

How would you describe your music style or genre?

Ethereal emotional electronica

Can you share a bit about your musical journey and how it has evolved over the years?

I used to be more of a singer-songwriter, writing music on my guitar. Then I found electronic music and was really into UKG stuff and my music explored this- but I also dabbled a bit into synth pop…. Now my music leans more into ethereal electronica with traditional Filipino instrumentation with a nod to 90s nostalgia- and it has never felt more true and authentic. I am excited to delve deeper into making more dance driven stuff rather than ambient- but also have another go at making pop for something different.

What are some of your biggest musical influences?

Traditional Filipino instrumentation. Artists such as Kelly Lee Owens, Jon Hopkins and Four Tet – the through line for all these artists is their connection to Spirit in all their music.

Tell us about your creative process when producing a new track or mix.

It really varies from each song, but generally speaking I generally start with either synths or percussion and sketch something out from there. It’s usually very rough, the way I approach it is as if I’m getting my paint pallette together, getting all my colours and the rough building blocks of the song. Then I do really broad brush strokes as a sketch which usually is like a 16 bar loop. I try to let this part be as free flowing and fun as possible, using placeholders it need be to not inhibit flow

How do you feel the music scene has changed over the years, and what impact has it had on your work?

There has been a shift in celebrating music from culturally diverse backgrounds – which is beautiful because I feel like I can make music outside traditional western standards and there are spaces for it, and people have more appreciation for it

Lastly, what message or feeling do you hope to convey to your listeners through your music?

Connection to the unseen, connection to nature
