What inspired you to become an artist?
Couldn’t exactly say what properly inspired me but I’ve dipped my toes in the musical pond a couple times, playing piano and drums for a couple of years when I was younger. After developing a love for dance music, I decided to try Ableton, had little too much fun and here we are!
How would you describe your music style or genre?
Honestly, it goes through phases, it just depends on what I’m vibing at the time! But normally it’s somewhere between; disco-house-breakbeat-ukg-techno-trance.
Can you share a bit about your musical journey and how it has evolved over the years?
Starting just by bedroom DJing house music mixes for mates then COVID19 happened, so I bought my first DJ controller and start learning on that while exploring more sub-genres. Then I heard about Ableton doing extended trials, gave it a crack, got hooked and that’s how I made the transition to producing.
What are some of your biggest musical influences?
From a DJ’s perspective, DJ EZ. He’s absolutely insane and I wish I was half as good as he is. Production wise, every time I hear a Township Rebellion song, I’m so impressed. I often find myself trying to recreate those epic techno synths in my own productions.
Tell us about your creative process when producing a new track or mix.
The way I start a track depends on the inspiration; sometimes I have an idea for a bassline or a lead or a melody, in which case I’ll start there and build. That being said, generally I start with kick and bass, I like to get the groove sorted as a foundation and go from there.
Can you share any memorable experiences or stories from your live performances?
Playing a live set with the special team @lost memories at Alagem Music Festival. The energy from the crowd was amazing, probably making it my most fun and memorable performance to date.
How do you feel the music scene has changed over the years, and what impact has it had on your work?
I think the dance music scene in Melbourne has come a long way and it’s great to see so much talent in so many genres! As a fan it’s been awesome for getting my fix of multiple genres.
Are there any specific venues or festivals that hold a special place in your heart? Why?
Pitch Music & Arts holds a special place in my heart! It’s pretty much my favourite time of year, nothing like having a boogie with all your mates with trolley full of snacks and cold drinks (and chairs if you need a time out) with some of the best DJs from around the world.
Lastly, what message or feeling do you hope to convey to your listeners through your music?
Grooves, NRG, and Vibes
